WELCOME TO TEEN-AIDERS

Teens Facilitating Aid For Young Children Who Need Our Help!

OUR MISSION/VISION
To facilitate aid to homeless children while fostering a spirit of philanthropy, activism and awareness in teen volunteers.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Teen-Aiders is a philanthropic organization providing Lake County, Illinois teens (called Teen-Aiders) with a coordinated program to educate them about the realities of child homelessness in our community. Teen-Aiders runs two ten-week programs each year during the Spring and Fall. The teen volunteers will conceptualize and implement a fundraiser for this cause while being guided by our Adult Mentors. To help the teens build awareness and appreciation for the importance of the cause that they are supporting, they will also participate in volunteer activities in the community, such as working in a soup kitchen and interacting with those children who are in need of our aid.

WHY IS TEEN-AIDERS UNIQUE?
While most organizations focus solely on the cause at hand, in this case, child homelessness, Teen-Aiders' primary goal is to provide its teen volunteers with the skills, desire and knowledge to continue a lifetime of volunteerism.

Teen-Aiders provides its volunteers the opportunity to work with numerous organizations throughout Lake County, Illinois to help alleviate child homelessness. This provides each participant with a broad prospective on this issue including visibility to its local proximity and how pervasive the problem of homelessness really is. In addition, these teens will be coached through the process of creating and developing a plan and executing a fundraiser to alleviate child homelessness. The skills learned in Teen-Aiders will help these young adults throughout their personal and professional development.
