Fall 2009

September 17th- The Teen-Aiders kick off was held at Vernon Hills High School.   

September 26th- Visit to The Samaritan House. We painted, played and did arts and crafts with the children who lived at the shelter.

October 1st- Fundraiser Planning was held Vernon Hills High School. We determined that we will be collecting donations of new/used Halloween Costumes to donate to children in Lake County's Homeless Shelters. 

October 15th- We helped feed the homeless men, women and children who spent the night at the Vernon Hills PADS seasonal emergency shelter.

October 22nd- Fundraiser Planning was held Vernon Hills High School.

                                                                                                                                                                                 

October 31st- We held a Halloween party at The PADS Family Center.  We painted pumpkins, played games, made haunted houses and dropped off over 200 costumes that were donated to our Halloween Costume Drive. 

 

Novemer 7th- We did arts and crafts with the children at the Staben House.  In addition, we cleaned the playroon and laundry room and rakes thier fall leaves.


November 12th-Fundraiser Planning was held Vernon Hills High School.

 

November 21st-We held a Shop-N-Drop at Sunset Foods in Libertyville.

December 5th-We had our Fall finale at The PADS Family Center where we dropped off the proceeds from the Shop-N-Drop. We did holiday crafts including gingerbread houses with the children. 

 

  In addition, our teens decorated the family room with a Christmas Tree and other holiday decorations.

 

 

Spring 2009

January 6th- Teen-Aiders Adult Mentors brought and served dinner to The PADS Family Center.

 February 7th- The Teen-Aiders kick off was held at Vernon Hills High School. 

 

 

 

 

February 14th-  Valentine's Day at The PADS Family Center!  We hosted a cake and cookie decorating contest. We also made Valentine's Day cards and played with kids who live at the shelter. 

 

 

 

February 21st-  Fundraiser Planning at Vernon Hills High School. 

February 28th-  Visit to A Safe Place.  We made painted and decorated t-shirts.  We also played musical chairs and Pin the Tail on the Donkey to celebrate an 8 year-olds birthday who was living at the shelter.

March 3rd-  Teen-Aiders Adult Mentors brought and served dinner to The PADS Family Center. 

March 7th-  Fundraiser Planning at Vernon Hills High School.  We will be conducting a drive for toiletries, toys and other general needs as well as partnering with a local business to raise money to help our charitable partners.

March 14th-  Fundraiser Planning at The PADS Family Center.  We painted donation boxes with the children at the center.  The donation boxes were used in an art supplies collection drive. 

March 21st-  Fundraiser Planning at Vernon Hills High School. 

April 11th- Easter at the Staben House. We held an egg hunt and decorated Easter eggs and baskets with the children of The Staben House.

 

April 21st-  Volunteers processed and sorted over $5,000 worth of donations to be delivered to The Staben House and The PADS Family Center.   Everyone then had lunch together in support of our FUNdraiser held at Max & Erma's that day.

April 25th-  We presented The Staben House and PADS with over $5,000 worth of donations, including toiletries, canned and boxed food, baby supplies and art supplies. We then celebrated a successful first session of Teen-Aiders by having a picnic lunch, playing games and making artwork with the families at the PADS Family Center.

July 7, 2009-  Teen-Aiders brought and served dinner to The PADS Family Center.   

 

This July, Teen-Aiders partnered with the Vernon Hills Curves to hold a meat drive.  All donations were for the Lake County Haven.  Jeannette Cloud, an Adult Mentor with Teen-Aiders, led this initiative.
